Nobi is redefining how technology supports older adults. Our smart lights are installed in care communities across Europe and the US, combining sensors, connectivity, and beautifully designed luminaires to prevent falls and support caregivers.
We are looking for a VP of Hardware who will take full ownership of our hardware strategy and execution. You will lead a small but skilled internal team and manage external partners. You will deliver new devices from concept to launch and turn hardware development into a predictable and repeatable process.
What you will do
- Run all hardware projects from first idea to market introduction.
- Scope projects, build timelines, manage risks, and ensure milestones are met.
- Set up a clear project management structure that keeps communication smooth across engineering, product, quality, procurement, and manufacturing.
- Own hardware architecture, component selection, prototyping, testing, and certification.
- Prepare devices for mass production and manage the transition to manufacturing.
- Decide when to design in house and when to leverage OEM or ODM platforms.
- Work closely with electronics engineers, mechanical designers, testers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
- Collaborate directly with the CTO and product leadership to align hardware direction with the company roadmap.
What you must know
- You have delivered hardware products end to end.
- You understand PCB design and electronics at a level that lets you guide and challenge engineers.
- You understand mechanical design, enclosure development, thermal behaviour, and manufacturability.
- You are comfortable with EVT, DVT, and PVT and know how to run these phases with discipline.
- You can plan, track, and de-risk hardware projects with clear structure.
- You know certification paths such as CE and FCC and have worked with test labs.
- You can manage suppliers and contract manufacturers while keeping quality and cost under control.
- You need to be min.75% on site
What is a bonus
- Experience with medical or care related devices.
- Experience with UL
- Experience with OEM or ODM partnerships and adapting existing platforms.
- Background in lighting, sensors, IoT, or embedded systems.
- Experience building hardware teams or establishing processes for scale.
- Familiarity with reliability testing, thermal validation, or long term field testing.
- Experience working with embedded compute platforms such as Nvidia Jetson modules.
